Exeter City did not play today as they had played on Wednesday in the Cup-tie with Manchester United. If they could produce this sort of football every week they would be top of the Fourth Division and no-one could touch them. But this afternoon with so much mud and water on the pitch clever football was almost out of the question. The City included their new forward, Graham Bond, who was signed from Torquay United on the day before the Manchester cup-tie. He was at inside right in a team that showed two or three changes, and apart from Bond Alvan Williams and Grant were also appearing for the first time. Bond did as well as he could, but at 5ft 3ins and 10st 61bs he is not the sort of player who is at his best ploughing through water and mud. Alvan Williams on the other hand made a grand impression at centre half, dominating the centre of the field and completely subduing Harburn.
- The City Reserves' match at Weston-super-Mare was called off following heavy rain which flooded the pitch.
