York City provided some brilliant football this afternoon when the City went down by six goals to one. The home club were two up within 25 minutes. Then Exeter managed to get a grip on the game, scoring one goal and having one near miss. But after the interval the York City attack took command, and although one of their goals was lucky there was no doubting their superiority. Exeter weathered a bad opening spell at the cost of two goals but stormed back into the game in a commendable fight-back. Exeter's defence however gave way in the last period and was completely overwhelmed.
- With Gordon Dale coming in on the left wing the City Reserves had eight professionals in their Western League side versus Trowbridge at St James's Park. They ended up with a runaway victory of six goals (Dale, Carter 2, Bennett 2, P. Williams) to two (Skull, Lambden).
