Exeter City looked all set for two points on the muddy St James's Park ground today when they led Barrow by two clear goals at the interval. The City kicked off facing the St James's Road end and the wind and rain, and the first shot of the match was put in by Wilson and went over the bar. Carter in the twelfth minute ran through and tried a shot, which Heyes easily held. Then Wilkinson headed the City into the lead in the 17th minute when Carter ran on to Welsh's pass and crossed a perfect ball. Then Rees in 24 minutes and Carter in 38 both put in shots which beat the Barrow goalkeeper, but each goal was dis allowed by the referee for offside. But five minutes from half time the City did score again, Wilkinson's perfect header flying into the net from Wilson's free kick near the touch-line. When Barrow scored from a penalty in the second half Exeter lost their bite, and in the end they had to settle for a draw.
