SATURDAY APRIL 15TH:
EXETER CITY 2 MILLWALL 3.

Played at St James's Park, attendance 4,641, gate £503.

Exeter City: Jones; Foley and MacDonald; Mitchell, Williams, and Harvey; Donaldson, Rees, Jenkins, Carter, and Gordon.

Millwall:- Davies; Jackson and P.Brady; Harper, R.Brady, and Anderson; Broadfoot, Bumpstead, Burridge, Jones, and Spears.

Two goals up in 16 minutes, Exeter City crashed to defeat because their defence had its worst day of the season and were not able to hold on to the advantage that the much maligned forwards had given themRight from the start the City defence looked shaky and they simply fell to pieces at the end of the first half conceding two goals in twelve minutes.

No blame can be levelled on this occasion at the City forward lineThey worked purposefully, Carter was everywhere, he seemed to be doing two mens work. He scored after 16 minutes to give City, a two goal lead, Earlier Rees had given Exeter a great start by scoring after just two minutesMillwall were undoubtedly a good side and they deserved Broadfoot's goal after 28 minutes.

City's defence then collapsed, they looked wide open at times and it came as no surprise when Jones equalised in the 36th minute. In the second half City did improve slightly and put in shots that bothered Davies, but Millwall had the craft and confidence. Broadfoot scored again after 55 minutes and by the end there was no doubt that the Londoners deserved to win,
