Match 49
11th May 1963
Rochdale (a)

And in the Western League
Weston Super Mare (h)

THREE GOAL DEFEAT AND TINSLEY SAVES A PENALTY.

SATURDAY MAY 11TH 1963
ROCHDALE 3 EXETER CITY 0.

With a reshuffled team Exeter City were never in the hunt against the far superior Rochdale team. In the first half they were completely outplayed, the forward line showing neither drive nor ideas. The second half brought a slight improvement, but Rochdale always held the whip hand, and but for some magnificent goalkeeping on the part of Tinsley, who as well as everything else, also brought off a penalty save from Milburn after Harvey had grounded Cairns, the score would have been doubled.

Exeter City:- Tinsley; Smyth, Patrick; Grace, Harvey, Anderson; Rees, Sells, Henderson, Mitchell, and Jenkins.

  • Western League
Exeter City Reserves 2 Weston super Mare 1.
Pierce and Southcombe scored the goals with which Weston suffered defeat at St James's Park. It was the last home match of the season for the Reserves.
