In the first half City were never in it against a Luton side who had not won away for 10 months. The City were pushed back on defence which was luckily better than the attack and were able to keep Luton at bayThe half backs worked extremely hard and if anything got through, John Smout was always in the right spot to cut out the danger, When Luton went ahead, it was no more than they deservedIronically it took City only a minute to equalise through Ray ElliottThere was an improvement for City after half time as they came more into the game, but the build up was not as good as Luton. The forwards were poor, and the game looked set for a draw, and this would have been a fair result, Then City got a penalty. Ray Keeley made no mistake from the spotLuton were unlucky and deserved a point. Ray Harford had an excellent game,
Summary
After a rather moderate first half Exeter City stepped up their pace to secure two Fourth Division points by beating Luton at St James's Park, and a certain amount of revenge for their F.A.Cup dismissal earlier this season. But until the interval Luton were the better side and the City were fortunate to be on level terms at half-time. Elliott and Keeley got Exeter's goals after Riddick had opened for the visitors.

BEST FOR YEARS.

One of the best things that has happened to Exeter City in recent years is the appointemnt of Les Kerslake as chairman, He takes over from Reg Rose who has had to give up through ill healthKerslake is a real dyed in the wool supporterHis understanding of the club's affairs over such a long period and his popularity with the players should help him make a good job of the difficult taks that he has undertaken,

CHAIRMAN'S APPEAL.

Exeter City's new chairman Les Kerslake today appeaked to the public to support tomorrow's game with Barrow. He said that the attendance at last week's game was the lowest in the Football League and Cup, and it was obvious that if improvements are to be made at St James' Park then there must be better support than they are getting. He added that the team had picked up in recent games and needed all the support they could get especially as they were in the main, a very young team,
