What a game of fluctuations One minute it was York, the next it was Exeter. Until midway through the second half the game could have gone either way, Then City virtually won it with two goals in six minutes for their second away win of the season and four goals away from home. It was also City's first double of the season and puts York City deep in trouble at the foot of the division, York went ahead in the 10th minute after a bad mistake in the City defence which Horrey punished, Two minutes earlier Peter Godfrey hit the angle of the bar and post with a terrific 25 yard shot. City were back in the game in the 21st minute when Ray Keeley hit the ball into the penalty area for Jim Ryan to head homeTwo minutes before half time York were in front with a disputed goal, John Smout appeared to be pushed, the ball ran free, and in the melee it ended up in the City net,
In the second half York threatened to overun City, Smout made two brilliant saves but slowly Exeter played their way out of trouble and suddenly they found the net twice, Godfrey equalised in the 65th minute and then Ray Elliott fired City into the lead after an error by Walker, Nine minutes from time Keeley made sure of a fine City win with a low shot ointo the corner of the net.

After a hard battle at St James's Park the City Reserves scored two second half goals against Bridgwater without reply. In the first half and until Exeter got their opening goal after the interval Bridgwater more than held their own but failed to last out. The City team showed two changes from last week, Taylor and McNeil coming in for Nash and Richardson. Two second half goals from John Wingate and Roger Smith gave the City a hard earned victory against a very useful looking Bridgwater Town side.
Goalkeeper Colin Tinsley who left Exeter City in 1963 for Luton Town is now a regular with Southern League Kettering Town
