Lucky Exeter City.

Not many sides who lose 4-0 can count themselves fortunate but City certainly can because Luton could have doubled their score. City were as bad as that, Too bad to be true. They were
hopelessly outplayed and outclassed and were reduced to a shambles for virtually 90 minutes. Ernie Wikinson, Ben Embery, Ray Harford, and Ken Thompson all cleared shots off the line, Luton missed a 4th minute penalty. They had a goal disallowed and a header hit the bar. City just did not have a forward line, Only once did they trouble the Luton keeper when Jim Ryan hit the post from close range when he should have scored, The Luton goals came from Riddick after 12 minutes, King 48th, Allen 54th, and French 59th, John Smout brought off some fine saves including a penalty but he did not have a lot of cover in City's worst performance of the season, Yes, Luton should have had eight goals at least, The City gave one of their worst displays of the season when at Kenilworth-road they were hopelessly outplayed and beaten by Luton Town, the side that knocked them out of the F.A.Cup, by four goals to nil. The result was never in doubt. The City were a terrible shambles and were hardly ever in the game. Luton could have scored more goals if they had not eased up towards the end.

WESTERN LEAGUE.
Exeter City v Weymouth

EXETER CITY 1
Jones; Taylor, Nash; Clarke, Balson, Buckingham; Stuckey, West, Wingate, McNeil, Smith,
WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1.
Donnelly; Clifford (Graham), Palmer, Clifford(Gary), Biles, Croad; Bailey, Rice, Tizard, McGowan, Stenner,

Scorer: Exeter Smith,

Neither side was able to make much of an impression and the heavy going might have had something to do with this. Nevertheless City had enough of the play to have won comfortably had they shown better finishing, Roger Smith missed a penalty, Weymouth took the lead in the 18th minute when Tizard scored with a grand shot from the edge of the box. Shortly after City should have equalised but Smith's shot was pushed out by Donnelly, Smith made ameneds for his penalty miss however by netting in the second half.
Exeter City Reserves could have beaten Weymouth at St James's Park, if they had not missed a penalty in the first half, after Tizard had provided Weymouth with a 1-0 lead. Smith took the kick when Wingate was brought down, but the goalkeeper dived and pushed the ball round the post.

In the second half Smith scored for Exeter. Result 1-1.
