With an average of a point a game from their Easter programme Exeter City can say they have had a satisfactory time, but this display against Aldershot was far from satisfactory. They were far from impressive against a no more than average Aldershot side and midway through the second half supporters gave Exeter the slow handclap, Aldershot could have made sure of a win in the first half, Although not creating clear cut chances they had the opportunities but were weak in front of goal, The City made too many mistakes. There was too much aimless kicking, poor passing, and indecisive playThey struggled for a lot of the time and were not wuick enough in breaking out and setting up their attacks. The game was a scrappy affair although Aldershot showed more ideas and method, In the 47th minute Kearns put them in front and they packed their defence. There were a couple of scrambles as time began to run out but City did not look like scoringThen Cecil Smyth crossed from the right and Dixie McNeil's header beat goalkeeper Godfrey to force an unexpected draw.
Summary
With an average of one point per game the City can say they have had a satisfactory Easter programme, with two of the matches being away from home. But the last of these games, and the only one played on their own pitch, can hardly be said to have been satisfactory. For the City looked to be heading for their second defeat at the hands of Aldershot until Dixie McNeil scored an equalising goal in the last five minutes. Exeter City 1 Aldershot 1.

A gale force vind made good football difficult, but goals from Bruce Stuckey and Mike Balson enabled City to avenge the 1-0 defeat against Barnstaple at the Park earlier this season.
