Mike Balson, the fifth centre forward to be tried out this season did enough to keep his place for Saturday's match, the last of the season, He did not score but worked hard throughout the game, In the end a draw was about justice to both sidesNeither team did a great deal on the slippery pitch, Defences were mainly on top in the first half but within three minutes of the restart, Bradford scored through debutant Sumpner, For a while Bradford were on top, with Ben Embery kicking a shot off the line, but gradually City played their way back into the game and were rewarded in the 70th minute when Dixie McNeil scored from Ray Elliott's cross. Shortly after City took the lead, Balosn's header was knocked off the line and Ray Harford scored from the rebound. Bradford went all out for the eqauliser and the City seemed set to stop them. Then with just one minute remaining Gould's shot was pushed out by John Smout and Ham scored. It was a a game of flucuations and City succeeded in getting a point from their last away trip of the season, but it should really have been two points,

WESTERN LEAGUE.
Final game in the Western League

Exeter City v Bristol City A

BRISTOL CITY A 1
Macey; Bees, Smith; Tanner, Hinder Merrick; Price, Morris, Clancy, Giles, Jones,

Scorers:
Exeter Ryan 2, Smith o.g.
Bristol City Tanner,

After seven years in the Western League it was fitting that Exeter City reserves should bow out with a good win, especially as this was not only City's last appearance in the league but also the last game to be played by the reserves - a team that is no longer to exist. Dropped from the senior side for the first time Jim Ryan had a good game scoring twice in the first half, Bristol City made more of a fight of it after the interval and reduced their arrears through Tanner. Unfortunately for them the right back Smith then put through his own goal.

WEDNESDAY 10th MAY 1967.

TED HOLEHOUSE BENEFIT MATCH.

MINEHEAD 3 EXETER CITY 5:

Scorers:
Minehead: Hillard, Hamilton,Tanner. Exeter : Balson 4, Ryan.

This was a benefit match for Minehead goalkeeper Ted Holehouse who had made over 200 appearances for the club, Ironically Holehouse was unable to play because of an injury City fielded a strong side, but it was Minehead who started brightlySlocombe missed a penalty and Hillard hit the bar, but once City settled down they dominated the first half. Mike Balson opened the scoring for City. Jim Ryan got the second and Balson added another to score just before half time, After the interval Minehead fought back with a goal each from two guest players, Hillard and Hamilton of Bristol Rovers. City's 19 year old centre forward Balson, completed his hat trick with a well taken goalStill Minehead came back to reduce the arrears again through Tanner, then Exeter got another and again it was Balson to complete a memorable match for him and and give City a 5-3 win,
