Biographical Text

Having played for Coventry City and Durham City, Thomas Parkin had a brief spell with Exeter City in the mid-1920s before playing for Merthyr, Yeovil and Weymouth.

After two seasons as a professional playing for Wallsend in the North Eastern League, Parkin then spent one season with Preston Colliery, before joining Coventry City in 1924 where he scored two goals in 20 league appearances Parkin then moved back to his native North East with Durham City and netted eight goals in 49 league outings.

He joined Exeter City in the summer of 1926 and made his debut on Christmas Day that year against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. He was to stay with the Grecians just for one season and in 1927-28 was playing for Merthyr Town where he scored once in 23 league starts.

After leaving Merthyr, Parkin played for Yeovil and Petters United and, in 1936, he signed for Weymouth where he made over 130 appearances up until 1940.

Tom Parkin died in 1984.
