Match 15
October 10th 1964,
Southend United (away)
Western League,
Yeovil Res. (Home)
SOUTHEND UNITED 0
EXETER CITY 0
Saturday October 10th at Southend.
Southend United:- McKechnie; Costello, Neal; Ashworth, Watson, Bradbury; Woodley, Slater, Bentley, Gilfillan, McKinven.
Exeter City:- Shearing; Smyth, Mitchell; Hancock, Harvey, Anderson; Welsh, Banks, Curtis, Grace, Rees.
Referee:- Mr K.Stokes of Newark.
The game at Southend was a very poor one to watch, for neither side was able to get going. Almost everything broke down in the middle of the field because of the inaccurate passing. In the second half Mitchell and Hancock changed places, and Exeter did then have more of the game. But their finishing was just as bad as it had been before. Patrick should have been in the Exeter team at left back but reported a recurrence of his ankle injury, whereupon Harvey, fit again after his groin injury, was recalled, with Mitchell dropping back.
