Match 23
November 21st 1964.
Hull City (Away)

Western League,
Andover (home)

HULL CITY 3
(Collinson, Wagstaff, Chilton)
EXETER CITY (Carter)

Saturday November 21st at Hull.

Hull City:- Swan; Davidson, Butler; Collinson, Milner, Summers; Wilkinson, Wagstaff, Chilton, Heath, McSeveney.

Exeter City:- Shearing; Smyth, MacDonald; Mitchell, Harvey, Anderson; Welsh, Curtis, Carter, Hancock, Rees.

Referee:- Mr S.Stoakes of Fishpool.

At Hull the Exeter defence had to cope with the 3rd Division's most expensive forward, Ken Wagstaff, transferred from Mansfield Town for £40,000. Wagstaff, making his debut for his new club, had already come up against the City this season and had scored two goals for Mansfield at St James's Park in September. Exeter suffered their heaviest defeat for a little while, yet, in some respects it was strangely enough one of their best displays of the season.

As soon as they kicked off they dropped into their 4-2-4 formation and were extremely mobile, interchanging and covering each other effectively enough to baffle Hull for the first half hour or so.

Western League
EXETER CITY 3 (Redwood, Riding 2) ANDOVER 1 (Case)

At St James's Park.

City Reserves:- Barnett; Pope, Patrick;
Edmunds, Higgins, Fulton; Stuckey, Redwood, Riding, Grace, Thorne.

Andover:- Broomfield; Houldsworthy, Voisey; Heagren, Stevens, Middleton; Hall, Brown, Case, Woolford, McCall.

Alan Riding is still keeping up his goalscoring form with the City Reserves, and was again on the target against Andover.
