Match 34
January 30th 1965
Bristol City (away)

Western League,
Weymouth (home)

BRISTOL CITY 1 (Clark).
EXETER CITY 1 (Banks)

Saturday January 30th 1965 at Bristol.

Bristol City:- Gibson; Ford, Briggs; Bush, Connor, Low; Savino, Derrick, Atyeo, Clark, Peters.

Exeter City:- Shearing; Smyth, Patrick; Mitchell, Harvey, Anderson; Welsh, Banks, Curtis, Hancock, Thorne.

Referee:- Mr K.H. Burns of Dudley.

Exeter City's new "caretaker manager," Mr. Ellis Stuttard, saw his team in action for the first time today at Ashton Gate, Bristol, and he must have been quite pleased with them.

While Harvey in the middle broke up the Bristol attacks, Banks and company harried their promotion-seeking opponents into dropping a point. The attack in fact was very sharp, with Banks, Curtis, and Thorne always in the picture. The only remaining thing seems to be to find the extra goal-touch, for if the City had had this they would have finished up winners by a clear margin.
