BARNSLEY 0-0 EXETER CITY

Saturday February 27th 1965 at Barnsley.

Barnsley:- Williamson; Hopper, Brookes; Shaw, Winstanley, Addy; Callaghan, Kerr, Graham, Byrne, Senior.

Exeter City:- Shearing; Smyth, Patrick; Mitchell, Harvey, Anderson; Welsh, Carter, Curtis, Hancock, Thorne.

Referee:- Mr L.J. Hamer of Bolton.

When the game between Barnsley and Exeter City started there were large grey snow clouds hanging over the Oakwell Ground, and it was so dark that the lights were switched on after five minutes' play. The game itself made an equally drab start, and the first serious shot at goal was five minutes in coming. Even then it was a feeble effort from Curtis, which Williamson held easily enough. The City were generally the faster and more imaginative team. But as in the previous two games they seemed to be too easily shaken out of their stride by an opposition which had little else other than a direct approach and a good bit of enthusiasm.
