Match 45
March 31st 1965,
Queens Park Rangers (h)

EXETER CITY 2 (Rees, Welsh)
QUEEN'S PARK RANGERS 2 (Leary 2)

Wednesday March 31st 1965 at St James's Park.

Exeter City: Shearing; Smyth, Patrick; Anderson, Harvey, Fulton; Welsh, Rees, Curtis, Rutley, Ley.

Queen's Park Rangers:- Springett; P.Brady, Taylor; Sibley, R.Brady, Keen; Morgan, Leach, Leary, McAdams, McLeod.

Referee:- Mr J.T. Powell of Newport. Linesmen:- Messrs W.Webster and P.R.Walters.

Sent out on a hard ground with a light ball and a strong wind, all twenty-two players struggled at first. Then when Rees rattled in a 12th minute goal, it looked as if the City were in for a high score at last. The Rangers, however, learned the lesson first. They beat the ground conditions. Leary flicked a header into the net for the equaliser, and then tapped in a second goal just before half-time. It was not until eight minutes from the end that Welsh equalised for Exeter.
