Match 49
April 16th 1965,
Bristol Rovers (a)

Western League,
Glastonbury (h)

BRISTOL ROVERS 1 (Biggs)
EXETER CITY 1 (Welsh)

Good Friday April 16th at Bristol.

Bristol Rovers:- Hall; Parsons, Jones; Mabbutt, Davis, Munro; Jarman, Brown, Biggs, Frude, Haverty.

Exeter City:- Shearing; Smyth, Patrick; Mitchell, Harvey, Fulton; Welsh, Carter, Curtis, Anderson, Rees.

On the form they showed at Eastville on Good Friday, Exeter City should be able to get two points from the Rovers when the teams meet again at St. James's Park on Easter Monday.

A team can play only as well as the opposition allows. Bristol did not look or perform like a side that was on the fringe of promotion just a few weeks ago. The City often made them look to be lacking in ideas and feeble in execution, and they could quite easily have got two points instead of one. A careless pass across the front of his own goal by a defender gave Welsh a chance in the 14th minute, and he took it well. Until ten minutes from time the City seemed to have the match well sewn up. But then came the only crack in their defensive blockade, and Biggs equalised for the Rovers.
