Kellow's Goal Gives Exeter A Draw Against Walsall

Saturday January 14th 1978

St James's Park, attendance 5,149.

EXETER CITY 1 WALSALL 1.

Their home form in League matches is still costing Exeter City a high place in the Third Division. This afternoon they had to come back from being a goal down before getting a point from Walsall. If they are to get anywhere in the promotion stakes the City cannot afford to go on dropping points at St James's Park.
This game livened up considerably in the second period after a dull and uneventful beginning in which neither side looked like getting a goal. But although the City were faster and livelier and generally on the offensive after the interval it was Walsall who scored, Buckley with a penalty kick beating Key after Caswell had been brought down in the area by Giles. Kellow, who had earlier had a goal disallowed for an infringement on the goalkeeper, scored from close range ten minutes from time to earn his side a belated point.
