Failed To Beat Swindon: Giles Injured

The failure to beat Swindon Town and the loss of Giles with a back injury just before half-time was a disappointing start to Exeter's three match Easter Holiday programme. In addition Delve had his name taken by the referee for a foul on Carter and faces the possibility of being suspended before the end of the season. Half a loaf is better than nothing, it is true, but this was not a good performance by Exeter. Indeed, both sides lacked fire power, and there was precious little
goalmouth action or excitement until late in the second half. In the closing stages the City speeded up their game, and Bowker had the best chance of the match with a header right in front of goal but somehow he managed to put the ball over the bar. Exeter should have had a penalty when Holman was unceremoniously brought down in the area
but the referee ignored the incident and waved play on.
