Hereford United (Away)
City Stunned by a goal in 30 seconds
Saturday March 25th 1978.
Edgar Street, Hereford,.
HEREFORD UNITED 4 EXETER CITY O.
A three goals first-half barrage from lowly Hereford United stunned Exeter City at the Edgar-street ground this afternoon. And the City, who lost Roberts, injured, in the seventh minute, never recovered from these shock tactics.
Exeter had Peter Hatch at centre half in place of the injured Giles, and when Roberts was carried off Weeks came on as the substitute.
There was a sensational start to the game when Hereford scored after only 30 seconds. Delve lost the ball in the goalmouth and Stephens dashed in to beat Key from close range.
Crompton made it 2-0 not long afterwards and Davey, the old Plymouth Argyle forward, scored the third. Crompton in the second half added Hereford's fourth goal to complete a very black day for Exeter City.
Hereford United: Mellor; Price and Burrows; Cornes, Layton, and Sheedy; Stephens, Marshall, Crompton, Davey, and Emery.
Exeter City:- Key; Templeman and Hore; Delve, Hatch, and Roberts; Hodge, Kellow, Randell, Bowker, and Holman.

Exeter City Reserves v Dawlish
Dawlish took the lead against Exeter City Reserves at St James's Park when Ford put the ball through his own goal in the first half, and a home defeat for Exeter seemed likely until the 70th minute, when a goal by Jennings levelled the scores.
