WITH Jordan in great shape, Exeter kept the upper hand in an exciting finish. They quickly subdued Melksham's first flush of fight and Steele snatched a goal just before the interval following a free kick by Moxham. Jordan added another from the penalty spot late in the second half but, with only ten minutes re- maining, goalkeeper Wilson was beaten out of goal by Stevens who scored easily and spurred Melksham into making an all-out final attack.

Exeter's defence trembled but refused to crack and Jordan put the result out of Melksham's reach with his second goal five minutes from the end.
