Biographical Text
Dubliner Ken O’Doherty made just two league appearances for Exeter City on loan from Huddersfield Town. Having also played for Crystal Palace, he started and finished his career in the League of Ireland.
Playing for University College Dublin (for whom he won the FAI Cup and featured against Everton in Europe) and having represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level, Ken’s big break came with a move to Crystal Palace in February 1985 where he appeared in 42 league games. Moving to Huddersfield Town in June 1988, he enjoyed another 65 league outings in what proved to be a four-year stay in Yorkshire.
At the start of his final season with Huddersfield, the 28-year-old briefly joined Exeter City on loan. Making his debut in the heavy defeat at Shrewsbury Town on 31 August 1991, Ken also featured in the following game against Torquay United ahead of spending the remainder of his time at St James’ Park playing for the reserves.
Ken later returned to Dublin, signed for Shelbourne and worked in computing.
