George Spencer played for the under-18s in the EFL Youth Alliance and FA Youth Cup as a scholar between 2021 and 2023.

When George was announced as one of City's new intake of two-year scholars in August 2021, youth coach Chad Gribble said: 

"George Spencer went quietly under the radar. He is very productive and able to bring players into the game, but he is also capable of scoring goals too. He has a real appetite to play, with an aggressive streak that we like. While the spotlight was on Sonny, George was quietly chipping away for the Under-16s, and now deservedly has his chance for the under-18s."

George scored a hat-trick against Newport County in the FA Youth Cup in October 2022 and, shortly afterwards, was loaned to Saltash United where he was part of the squad that finished as runners-up in the Western League.

In May 2023 First Point USA, an organisation involved in arranging sports scholarships at American universties, announced that George would be taking up a place at Florida Southern College in autumn 2023 to study environmental science and play for the university team..
