Dixon, Ellen

In August 2022, Exeter City Women completed the signing of highly talented sixteen-year-old Ellen Dixon.

Ellen was part of a highly successful Bridgwater United Under sixteen in 2021/22 that won the Somerset County Cup, the JPL League and were National Cup Semi Finalists. She also represented Devon and was awarded the Bridgwater United Under sixteen Player of the Year. Ellen was originally with the Exeter City Community Trust Girls Development Centre and makes a welcome return to the Club this summer.

"Moving in to Women’s football, Joint Manager Aaron Wakley is delighted to see Ellen as part of the squad for the new season. “It is great to have Ellen back with us. She is technically excellent and willing to learn. The other first team players have been really impressed with her attitude and she fitted in with the group well. I am excited to see what she can achieve this season.”

As is always the case with highly talented young players at Exeter City, the 1931 Fund, a group of around 60 Exeter City Supporters who donate towards the funding of a Member of Matt Taylor’s First Team Squad, will sponsor Ellen for the new season.

The fund is named after City’s famous FA Cup run of 1931, in which they took Sunderland to a replay in a Quarter Final tie, and have raised significant funds for the Club over the past eleven years to assist in recruitment of players.

In recent seasons that has involved funding for young players who are seeking to make their name at Exeter City and develop their careers further. All players funded under the Supporters group have proudly worn the number thirty-one squad number as a show of appreciation, this Season the Number 31 for the Women’s Team will be worn by Ellen Dixon."

Ellen made her debut for Exeter CIty WFC on the 21st August 2022 against Keynsham Town as a second half substitute. And continued to play for the Development squad (Exeter City WFC reserves) in 2022/23
