After being a goal up at half-time Exeter City were hit by a quick Oxford goal charge at the Manor Field, and after looking the better side for much of the game were in the end defeated by the odd goal of five. Bowker had put the Grecians ahead eight minutes before the interval, but Oxford rallied strongly after ends had bee changed, and a crowd of 5,441 saw their ton clain the ultimate and deserved victory. Foley with two goals and Duncan with one were the hose side's heroad of the day. Templeman replied for Exeter with the leat kick of the match

Williams, the City's new player from Southampton, was forced to come off the field having injured his arm, and Holman substituted during the closing stages.

Exeter City Reserves v Mangotsfield
Exeter City Reserves wearing blue to avoid a clash of colours, were unexpectedly beaten at St James's Pars by Mangotefield United 3-1. The visitors' first goal was a spectacular one, a massive shot from fully 40 yards by Carr that crashed into the net past the bewildered Nute, who was standing too for out of his goal.

Abother disappointing display at home resulted in the defeat for Exeter City Reserves within four days of the first one, Tiverton won by a goal scored with a penalty (the award of which was hotly disputed by the City players) to nil.
