Brentford v City
November 11th 1978

At Griffin Park the City might easily have taken the lead in the first minute when Bowker was put through, but he took too long to get his shot in and was crowded out. But it was usually Brentford who had the better of the first half exchanges, and with Forbes and Mitchell deputising for Randell and Giles, the defence found McCulloch and Phillips a constant threat. With half an hour of the match played the City at last managed to launch a worthwhile raid, and from a combined move by Delve and Hatch the ball was rolled along the ground for Templeman to deliver a cracking shot from 25 yards, which was well held by Len Bond, the former City goalkeeper.

With the City now out of the League Cup the club has received several enquiries regarding the possibility of signing Tony Kellow. A definite offer has been made by Fulham, while Wrexham and Cardiff City are also interested. But the City, who value the player at £150,000, have stated that whilst they have no wish to part with Kellow they may be forced to if the right offer comes along.
