Clevedon v Exeter City Reserves
City v Peterborough
February 10th 1979
Exeter City 1 Peterborough 0 at St James's Park.
Exeter City maintained their promotion challenge with another fine victory, although at the end they were only one goal better than the "Posh." Pearson scored the all important goal six minutes after the interval as the City turned on a splendid second half display, but once again the lack of support was disappointing, with only 3,814 turning up to witness their team's fifth consecutive home win. The pitch was in a perfectly playable condition, although it was extremely soft, with a thin covering of snow in places. Both sides took a little time to get going, with Exeter slightly the more troubles in the early stages. The former City left winger, Harry Holman, was in the Peterborough team at number eleven, but their other ex-Grecian, Lammie Robertson, has been transferred to Bradford City.
City: O'Keefe; Templeman, Giles, Roberts, Hore; Delve, Randell, Hatch; Neville, Sims, Pearson.
Peterborough:- Waugh; Hindley, Doyle, Ross, Styles; McEwan, Cooke, Ross; Carmichael, Butlin, Holman.
Referee:- Mr T.G.Bune of Billinghurst. Linesmen:- Messrs K.V.Lambert and B.S.Lock.
