Match 49
21st April 1979
Lincoln City (Away)

Lincoln v Exeter City

April 21: A brilliant display by the former West Ham custodian Peter Grotier could not stop Exeter City from plundering both points when they visited Lincoln City at the Sincil Bank ground. Grotier capped his performance with a magnificent first half penalty save from the City's expert spot-kicker, awarded against Cooper for hands. But the City winger made no mistake with his second penalty attempt after the goalkeeper had brought Rogers down in the 73rd minute, and that was the goal by which Exeter won the game. The City's only team change was Forbes for Randell in the middle line.
