Exeter made hard work of F.A. Cup win

Local soccer sides experienced rather mixed fortunes in the first round of Women's F.A. Cup. Tiverton and Exeter both came through unscathed, but Exmouth crashed 6-3 at Pelynt. Ness Byrne scored twice for Tiverton and Pam Shaw hit the other goal in their 3-1 win at Illogan.

Exeter made hard work of beating Kingsteignton, however. They were 4-0 up thanks to a couple of goals from Penny Wilson and one each from Trina Lake and Julie Trott, but their opponents hit back with two quick goals. Then Julie Trott scored again to give Exeter a 5-2 victory.
