Match 20
9th November 1974
Scunthorpe (home)

Exeter C v Scunthorpe U
9th November 1974

Exeter City entertained Scunthorpe United at St. James Park in a Fourth Division fixture. Two days earlier, the Scunthorpe manager Ron Bradley had resigned. Despite having only lost once at home all season, a poor attendance of 3,058 bothered to turn up. Perhaps those who stayed away knew something, for the game was not a good one and ended goalless. Included in the Scunthorpe team was a certain Neil Warnock, now manager of Rotherham United, but of course in charge at Torquay United towards the end of last season. Whilst the Grecians ended the season in 9th place, Scunthorpe finished rock bottom of the Football League.

Exeter City: Len Bond, John Templeman, Peter Hatch, Tony Morrin, Jimmy Giles, Keith Clapham, John Neale (Bobby Hodge), Keith Bowker, Lammie Robertson, Brian Joy, Nicky Jennings.

Scunthorpe United: Geoff Barnard, Peter Markham, Don Welbourne, Chris Simpkin, John Barker, Alan Anderson (Angus Davidson), Richard Money, Stuart, Neil Warnock, Dudley Roberts, Nolan Keeley.
