MATCH REPORT

EXETER 1 V CARDIFF 0
(PAT SOWDEN CUP)

This was the 1st round of the Pat Sowden Cup. Both teams had a good record for this Cup, with Exeter being runner's up three times and Cardiff being the Cup holders.

On a very bleak day with conditions near to impossible both teams did well to surive the 80 mins. Not only did the players have to contend with one another, but the forceful wind created another element to produce most unusual reactions from the ball. The winning and only goal came in the first half after a mix up between the Cardiff goalkeeper and a defender. The ball broke loose to leave and open goal, with Annie taking a shot that lifted and then dipped hitting the crossbar. Luckily Julie Trott was following up and knocked the ball home too pull off the win.
