MATCH REPORT

NEWPORT 1 V EXETER 2 (LEAGUE)

Travelling for the last time over the bridge this season, we were greated by a cold front and snowy climate.

This was the first time we have played Newport this season and with the match meaning so much, we tried to approach it with an open mind. Knowing that to keep up our challenge for league had to to the travel home with two points.

The pitch was very heavy and sticky play in the middle of the park was almost impossible. With not having played since christmas and in the conditionsour game was poor.

Newport seltled quickly and proved that they can play absorbing football. It took us a good 30 mins to break the dead-lock, with shot at comming from a corner Julie Trott hit the back of net. goal, the

The second half found us struggling for form, but we kept going and with a fine effort from Sarah (no not me folks!, but Sarah Pollard) she took the ball through from mid-field and slotted it nicely between the goalie and post, (Sarah's first for the club).

Although two up we never really got going and with the referee giving a some-what doubtful decision, Newport pulled one back with a penalty and that how it ended. We did enough though to put us at the top league table, at least for the time being. the
