Match 12
29th January 1984
Frome (home)
MATCH REPORT
EXETER 4 FROME 1
(LEAGUE)
We had a great deal to prove to ourselves in this game after our poor display against Keynsham, we had to pick ourselves up and show our true character. Frome, much improved since Christmas, had everything to play for, but so did we.
Our first half went well, we put together fast and idyllic moves, unfortunately our finishing was not 100% but never the less our defence played well. Our, first goal was bit of an anti-climax, we were attacking well and Annie shot well. to see the ball deflect for a corner. Bridget took the corner and it came over well, after several blocked attempts to score Annie got her toe to the ball and it trickled over the line. The second goal was again scored by Annie from a good effort, we continued to dominate and another fierce attack on the Frome goal ended in sealing the first half, with a well taken Julie T. goal. Although in the second half we went a little quiet we kept control of the game.
Frome's attack put pressure on us and we gave away a penalty, which Frome put away. Both teams battled well in the second half and played entertaining football.
The match was sealed however, which can only be described as a 'Dream of a goal' by Mandy L. it will be hard to better a goal of that class and any goalkeeper would have found it very difficult shot to stop. We were pleased with our performance and hope that we can maintain our form throughout the remaining season. Frome must be pleased with their improved form.
