MATCH REPORT
EXETER 1
C & C SOUTHWICK 2
W.F.A. CUF 1st round
On a fine afternoon we entertained a very good side from Brighton, who were to make our W. F.A. Cup run very brief this year.
The game began at a furious pace, with little good football produced. After the fist five minutes, we found ourselves 1-0 down. Not able to take advantage of a penalty in our favour and allowing our visitors to slip through and put the ball in the back of the net.
We could not settle and allowed C & C to play their kind of football, and we suffered a second set back, when we went down by another goal, hit high into the goal area, it rebounded of the post, hit our keeper and shot into the net.
We knew that in the second half we were going to have to put our foot on the ball and think about the game. This we did and it turned into a completely different match.
We had a least 85% of the game with few attacks by C & C to bother our defence. We began to show our footballing ability and created several chances which were just not to be. Twenty minutes into the second half Ju Trott crossed the ball from the right wing, and Annie got up well to direct it into the back of the net, a great goal.
Everything was there in the second half, apart from goals. With ten minutes to go we were awarded three free-kicks in succession, and although Mandy L, took all three well the keeper collected and positioned herself perfectly.
Still although loosers we fought well and worked hard, and I am sure C & C Southwick were very relieved when the final whistle blew.
