Match 08
9th December 1984
Cardiff (away)
MATCH REPORT
CARDIFF 1-1 EXETER
9th December 1984.
LEAGUE
Travelling over the bridge to Wales We knew that this would be hard and close fought game, as our games with Cardiff usually are, and we were not to be mistaken.
On a small pitch both teams produced end to football, although our pressure paid off first, by creating a fast attacking move which put Cardiff under too much pressure and one of their defensive players scored in their own net, this was within the first ten minutes. Our football was not at its best, but we contained Cardiff well and maintained our 1-0 lead at half time.
During the second half Mandy L, was substituted through injury, by our latest signing Diane. Unfortunately 20 minutes from the final whistle we gave away a free-kick, which Michelle Adams made no mistake in finding the back of the net with a high and dipping shot.
The match was even and with end to end play the draw seemed a fair result.
