Biographical Text
Henry Medcalf, signng from Bideford, played five times for Exeter City in the club’s final season in the Southern League in 1919/20. He later moved to Swindon Town.
Henry was signed from Bideford in November 1919 after impressing in a North Devon select team that played against Exeter City in a friendly fixture at Barnstaple. Within a week he had stepped into the Grecians’ first team to make his Southern League debut in a 1-0 win at Watford.
Playing at full-back, having previously been a centre-forward, Henry was to play four more matches before leaving at the end of the season to sign for Swindon Town.
