Swapping Shirts (1910)
A colourised photograph from the 1908/09 season shows the pre-1910 green kit in contrast to the now-classic red and white, pictured in here from the 1997/98 season.
In November 1910, a string of poor performances led some of the City players to associate the kit's green colour with bad luck. As a result, City's board of directors groundbreakingly decided to change the kit's colours from green and white to red and white stripes. The new home strip was first worn for a Southern League fixture against West Ham which resulted in a goalless draw, and the red and white colour scheme continues to be adapted to City's kits today.
