WFA Cup 1st Round
Tiverton (home)
Rival ladies clash
OLD RIVALS Tiverton Town Ladies FC and Exeter Ladies FC meet again tomorrow in the first round of the WFA Cup at Wyvern Barracks (ko 2.30).
It is likely to be the only meeting between the two sides this season as Tiverton have dropped down into the Women's South Western League and Exeter are in the Western League. Tiverton have a better recent record in the competition. They reached the national quarter-finals last season before going out to Maidstone. But this meeting always brings out the best in Exeter, especially with such an important place in the regionalised second round at stake.

Match Report
WFA Cup 1st Round
EXETER 4 TIVERTON 3
This was another good Derby game between the two sides. Exeter applied hard pressure right from the start and in the first ten minutes Tiverton made two bad mis- takes which put Exeter two up. Annie then had a hard hitting strike at the ball and made it three in fifteen minutes. Exeter kept up their sheer determination to win until the last few minutes of the first half, when Tiverton came back with a strong attack and from a Karen Jones long shot. At the start of the second half Exeter poured on the attacks and were quickly rewarded with a superb goal from Annie (a match winner for sure). The last fifteen minutes Exeter soaked up a lot of pressure and conceded another goal from Karen Jones, with only a few minutes to go Tivvy were awarded a penalty which Bev Moore put away. But when the final whistle went, Exeter came away worthy winners of a hard fought game.
Match Report 2.
TIVVY PUT IN TANGLE
EXETER LADIES FC convincingly beat Tiver- ton Town LFC 4-3 in the first round of the WFA Cup yesterday.
Exeter showed their sheer determination to win night from the first whistle and were three goals up in the opening 15 minutes. They put Tiverton under constant early pressure and their defence at sixes and sevens. Two defenders, Lyn Day and Anita Heard, scored own goals and striker Annie Hesketh made it three. Tiverton, with age and experience on their side, came back strongly and were rewarded with a goal from Karen Jones.
Annie Hesketh restored Exeter's three-goal lead at the start of the second half with a cracking shot on the turn a goal that deserved to win the match Tiverton took time to recover but again came strongly at the end of the game and made the scoreline more respectable with another Karen Jones goal and a Bev Moore penalty to set up a tense last five minutes.
