Frances shuttled

Exeter Ladies FC have been hit by injury, illness, and unavailability for tomorrow's Women's Western League match at Cope Chat in Stroud. They will delay naming a side until the last minute,  with doubts over Mandy Langman, Mandy Bowen, Julie Trott, and Debbie Turner. Frances Crispin is definitely ruled out. She is committed to playing for the Devon badminton second team against Wiltshire at Torquay.

LADIES CUT OUT THE CHAT

Exeter Ladies FC bounced back from their disappointing WFA Cup defeat last weekend to hammer Cope Chat 6-0 yesterday. That win keeps them at the top of the Women's Western League with an unbeaten record. More pleasing than the final score was the way Exeter achieved it with some controlled, intelligent football they sprayed the ball around with great authority in just the kind of performance to restore their confidence.

The goals, three in each half, came from Trina Lake (2), Mandy Bowen, Julie Trott, Penny Wilson, and substitute Mandy Langman.

COPE CHAT 0 EXETER 6

This was our first trip away to Cope Chat, who only joined the Western League this season.

Trying out a new formation we took strong command of the first half, although it took us 20 minutes to penetrate their defence. Cope Chat, a youthful side had few attacks for our back four to worry about, although they kept their heads up and put in 100% effort. We scored six goals in all, three in each half, five of the goals were scored from at least the edge of the 18 yard box, this was really good to see and was very effective, although Cope Chat's young goalie, playing her first game for two months after a very bad injury, played well to keep the score down.
