South West Region v. Northern Region
Inter Region Tournament
At Bath City
Ten for Ladies
Exeter Ladies FC powered to another impressive win yesterday to keep up their strong challenge for the Women's Western League title. They beat Bristol side St Catherines 10-0 without the aid of star striker Annie Hesketh, who was on duty for the South West regional side. Exeter struggled in the first half, going in with just a two goal lead against a side they had beaten 11-0 earlier this month. But they really put their game together in the second half and the Bristol side were hardly able to break out of their own half.
- Bridget Thomas scored five goals, Penny Wilson hit four, and Julie Trott netted the other.
Match Report 2
ST CATHERINES 0 EXETER 10
This was a good sterling performance from us. It was a good test for our squad, with Annie at the Regional game and Mandy Langman having to come off early in the game. Shelley did well coming on in Mandy's place, Witha shaky first half, Exeter led by 2 - 0 at half-time. However in the second half they really put their game together and St. Catherines hardly put an attack together.
Scorers were Bridget 5, Penny 4, and Julie Trott 1.

Annie in vain
Exeter Ladies FC striker Annie Hesketh scored the South West's only goal in their 6-1 defeat by the North in a women's inter-regional soccer match at Bath yesterday. Hesketh, Exeter's leading scorer, showed great skill to tuck the ball away in a tight situation in the first half. The scores were level at half time but the international-studded North side really turned on the power after the break to inflict the heaviest defeat of the season on the South West Team.
