MATCH REPORT

EXETER 3-4 KEYNSHAM

LEAGUE MATCH

22nd NOVEMBER 1987

Due to unfortunate circumstances, our league game with Swansea had to be postponed at the last minute & Keynsham stepped in & came down to play our league match.

Keynsham have often in the past got the better of us & their strength is difficult to overcome, however, with little time to think about this match, we kicked off & couldn't have wished for a better start. Within the first 30 seconds, the ball won in midfield was collected by Jackie Summers who hit the ball high over Keynsham's defence into the path of Penny, who lobbed it over the keepers' head.

Our second goal came only one minute after the first, Sarah did well in the penalty area to find enough space to shoot the ball past Keynsham's keeper into the bottom left hand side of the goal. We could not believe our start, however it didn't take our opposition long to come back at us, & preasurising our defence into making an error, didn't miss their chance in the 10 min. to pull one back.

The game was fairly even, & end to end in the 35 min Keynsham equalled the score with a fine shot through our Keeper's hands. However we replied within 3 minutes & from a follow up of a shot from Sarah, Ju T. was on the line to put away our third goal. With the score 3-2 in our favour at half-time, we felt reasonably pleased with our performance, although we knew we could play better & had to to keep our lead.

The second half was less organised for us with Keynsham showing their strength and putting our midfield & defence under a lot of pressure. It took them only 7 mins to penetrate our defence & put them on equal terms, & just a couple of mins later they finished us off with a fine shot & goal.

Although we finished up losers we played a good entertaining game for all those who braved the weather.
