LEAGUE GAME
10th JANUARY 1988
Travelling to Frome for only our fourth League Game, we were struggling to side eleven, in fact we had to scrape the barrell & I acted as player/ manager for the day, in fact we thought this would give us some advantage to begin with as Frome would take at least 30 mins. to get over the shock of seeing me in a pair of shorts, ten years after hanging up my boots.
However, the game started & we took good advantage of the down slope on the pitch & within 15 mins. of the kickoff we found ourselves with Penny taking the ball from a pass by Mandy L & slotting it past the keeper into the net. It didn't take us long to follow up with another good move, which Penny casually put away. Penny completed her hat trick 10 mins from half time, again from a midfield through ball.
The second half found our defence sleeping & lacking in concentration, Frome took full advantage of this & it wasn't long before they started tugging back at our score line, we managed to break through their defence one more time with a through ball to Ju T. which she scored from. However Frome kept their heads up & whittled away at us until all was level at 4-4. Once again we let a good lead slip recklessly away & were in the end lucky to some away with a point, even through fielding a weaker side than usual.
