Warminster 2-1 Exeter LFC

Exeter Cup hopes foiled by deflection

Exeter Ladies F.C. were narrowly beaten in yesterday's final of the Women's Western League Pat Sowden Cup at Radstock,
writes Trina Lake.

They went down 2-1 to cup holders Warminster after producing their best performance of the season. They took a second half lead when Julie Costello scored with a superbly flighted free kick.

Exeter continued to pile on the pressure and their defence never looked threatened until Warminster snatched two quick corners and scored from both, the second goal coming from a wicked deflection that gave goalkeeper Brenda Frayne no chance.
