Biographical Text

Scottish winger Tom MacIntyre made a handful of appearances during Exeter City’s first season in the Football League. He joined the club from Carlisle United and later played for Crewe Alexandra.

Tom was an outside right who was born in Dumfries. He failed to make the grade in Scotland and moved south to Carlisle United in 1919 but he didn’t make a single first team appearance at Brunton Park.

He had to wait until 1920 for his first Football League appearance when he signed for Exeter City after he had left the Services in the summer of 1920. The winger only made five appearances for the Grecians, the first of which was was in a 1-1 draw at home to Norwich City in September 1920.

After one season at St James’ Park, Tom left to sign for Crewe Alexandra where he had better fortune, scoring five goals in 23 league starts. Moving on to Wigan Borough in the summer of 1922, he again stayed for one season, scoring one goal in five league outings. His final League club was Chesterfield in 1923-24, where he featured in four league games.

Tom McIntyre died in 1976.
