Biographical Text

Patrick McGill played for Exeter City between 1936 and 1938. He joined the club from Hearts and later played for Distillery in Belfast.

Having previously been with Baillieston, Clyde and Maryhill Hibernian, Patrick had made six league appearances (scoring once) for Heart of Midlothian before joining Exeter City in the summer of 1936.

Immediately winning a place in the City team for the opening fixture against Notts County on 29 August 1936, Pat initially enjoyed a good run in the first-team as he appeared in fifteen of the first seventeen league games. Thereafter he played just ten more games during the remainder of the season - mainly towards the end of the campaign - before making just one appearance during the first half of 1937/38.

Finishing his second season at the club with a short run of appearances, Pat was released and subsequently turned out for Distillery in Belfast.
