Ladies find it's worth the trip
IT WAS well worth the journey to Chippenham on Sunday, as Exeter City Ladies came away with two league points and a 4-0 victory.
The Wiltshire club kept pace with Exeter's dynamic play throughout the first half and only slipped up once. That allowed Bridget Thomas to take the initiative and slot the ball neatly into the net.
The second half saw two changes in the Exeter side, as Vivienne Asher and her injured team-mate, Debbie Turner, came off. Their replacements gave the Exeter ladies a new vigour and play soon swung in the visitors' favour. Bridget Thomas, who was feeling on form, scored twice in the second half, to complete her hat-trick. Aggressive play by Exeter left little room for Chippenham to start making any inroads in their defence. With precision timing, Julie Costello hit Exeter's fourth, just as the final whistle was about to be blown.
On Sunday, Exeter meet Women's Western League leaders, Warminster, away. So far this season, Warminster have scored 48 goals in ten league matches.
