Hopes and Expectations
1977/78

The Squad
New players.

We have already started our new Season, so to keep you all up to date we will start by introducing you all to our new members:-

Janet Sprague
Last season was Lympstone's keeper, and anyone who has seen Janet play will know how well she will get on in the Western League.

Alison Yeo
Alison was Lympstone's top scorer last season and now joins our forward line.

Trina Lake
In Trina we seem to have completed quite a remarkable forward line. For those new to ladies football, Trina played for Tiverton Ladies last year and ended the league's top scorer.

Mandy Kennard
This will be Mandy's first season in League football, and already she has become very popular with all the players.

Karen Pope
Karen joined with Mandy, and suffice it to say she is making her Western League debut this month.

Chris Brailey
Not a new name, but Chris has all the footballing qualities of her namesake and is going to be a great player for Exeter.

Jackie May
Jackie is still young in comparison with most of our players but she really enjoys the game and is going to be an excellent full back.

Mandy Bowen
Mandy is nearly 13 years old and looks as if she is going to be a superb player. She will be scoring goals for the Devon League this year-that's certain.

Claire Wakeling
Claire joined with Jackie May and I can see a big future for her with Exeter.

Sally Sowden
Sally played for Port Royal while they were in existence and currently plays in our second team as a midfield player.

Bev. Hamilton
I haven't seen Bev play yet, she was injured in our first game. She is a tall girl who could prove a valuable asset.

Tracy Howland
Tracy is not yet 14 years old but has shown up well so far, and has plenty of time to improve on her ability, and become a regular in the team.

Debbie Turner
Debbie is 14 years old and scored her first goal in league football against Tiverton Motel. If she plays like that every week she will score more.

Jo Sidwell
I haven't seen Jo play yet either, but Jo looks as if she has the strength to help our younger players, and become an important part in our defence.
Maria Lamb
Maria is at Art College in Exeter, and coming from Tottenham, she obviously has football in her blood. She hasn't played yet but is a regular at training and will shortly be pushing for a place.

Penny Wilson
Penny has showed up well at training, and although still young will soon be putting on an Exeter Ladies Shirt.

Nannette Peplow
Nannette is just learning football, and is showing plenty of promise. She works hard in training and is learning fast.

Mercia Winsor
Mercia has not played for us yet, but again is learning fast at training, and it will not be long before she is ready for a game.

Janice Webb
Janice is very new, and is another young player. She is full of enthusiasm and with plenty of hard work should make a very good player.

On behalf of our Chairman, Mr. Ray Ellis, our existing players, and the committee, may I wish every player the best for 1977/8 and we all hope they enjoy playing for Exeter Ladies.
