Torquay United (away)

TORQUAY UNITED v EXETER CITY
Tuesday 18th April 1995.
Endsleigh League Third Division.
MATCH REPORT.
Exeter City ended their run of depresing defeats with a hand won point at Torquay United. The first 45 minutes lacked the passion of a local derby and although United enjoyed the lion share of the play they did not really create a clear cut chance.
The second half was a much better affair with the Grecians showing the sort of commitment and passion that had perhaps been lacking in previous matches.
Substitute Richard Pears hit the woodwork twice, once with a snap shot on the edge of the area, and then lobbing the ball against the angle of crossbar and post. It was not all Exeter however, in the second half, as Torquay also created one or two chances, but the Grecians defended well, and also had goalkeeper Peter Fox in his usual commanding form.
It may not have been a classic, but the match was very enjoyable, and it produced a much better overall performance from Exeter which should give them heart for the final two home fixtures of the season.
