Report by Kirstie Bowden.

I'm writing this on a Saturday afternoon, where if not for Setanta, I would be cheering on City at Aldershot. Instead I'm taking the rare opportunity to be able to watch Soccer Saturday hosted by the legend Jeff Stelling. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff at Burton last season. He stopped to talk for over 10 minutes and left only after being called away by his Sky colleagues. He was impressed with the City support who had made the trip, and all those who helped to save the club, seemingly knowing a lot about our recent history and the Trust set-up. We then discussed the City fans dislike of Graham Westley. He told us how in the previous home game televised on Sky, when Westley was in the big bank 'studio', he had to continuously dodge pasty based missiles! Our all too brief meeting ended with Jeff telling us that he expected us to make the play-offs. I'd like to think that his knowledge and interest in City (which is nothing to do with his job of course!) means that he is a secret Grecian. He is wearing a red tie today.....

So, back to Woking. I've seen all 5 of the league games at the Kingsfield Stadium. Our first visit saw us lose to an offside Jefferson Louis goal, back in the days when fans weren't segregated. Our second visit saw us draw 3-3 as Flackie came off the subs bench to secure a point deep in injury time. This sent the fans and Eamo wild. He ran over to the away support, and in line with us twice losing the lead in the game shouted "Keep the faith, Keep the faith". Our third visit, managed by Alex Inglethorpe, saw us lose 1-0. Last season it was ladies day which meant that, lucky for all us ladies, we got in for free. City also managed to finally win at Woking with our second and winning goal coming from Jamie Mackie.

This season, like many seasons before, the majority of travelling Grecians assembled in Woking snooker club before the game. It's here that I saw radio broadcaster and fellow programme writer Graham Kirk. Incidentally, travelling through Chobham on the way to Woking I saw a shop called Gemini Gems. Is this where Fullsy and Kirky were sent for training before they ventured onto the airwaves with Kellows Bootlaces?

If so I suggest Kirky goes back there to learn about the correct operation of a CD player. Should you be reading this at half time the first half may have been interspersed with sporadic bursts of music if the Ebbsfleet incident is anything to go by!

As the teams were announced, the travelling support was somewhat surprised to find that we had made a secret signing in the form of Lee Elm. He looked suspiciously like Lee Elam. We were winning 1-0 at half time through an own goal by Lorraine, who probably looks forward to the day away fans find something other than 'quiche' to shout at him. City looked set for the 3 points as the second half progressed, until somewhat inevitably Woking equalised in the 86th minute. The point then looked lost as Woking 'scored' deep in injury time. With the Woking team and fans celebrating it did seem that the goal had been given, but it was thankfully disallowed. The final whistle went soon after and the City support left the Kingsfield stadium disappointed with the point earned from another reverse comeback, but all too aware that it could have been worse.
