Match 02
13th August 2002
Scunthorpe (home)
Exeter City 1-1 Scunthorpe
An injury-time goal from Martin Thomas was enough to earn Exeter a well-deserved point as they came back to draw with Scunthorpe.
After dominating for long spells, Scunthorpe thought they had done enough to grab victory with a goal 10-minutes from time when Martin Carruthers headed home from Peter Beagrie's deflected cross.
But Exeter battled hard throughout and they earned their reward with the final whistle looming.
James Coppinger's cross was headed back across goal by Chris Curren and Thomas was on hand to head home at close range.
